Where can you find STD testing?
Most people balk at the idea of getting tested for an STD. This is because there’s a lot of social stigmas that are associated with even thinking that you could potentially have a disease that’s sexually transmitted. Most people don’t want to tell their regular physician that they would like to be tested because they’re too embarrassed.
In reality, you should never be embarrassed about a potential health concern. With that being said, most people are. If you fall into that category, don’t refrain from being tested because you don’t want to deal with some type of social embarrassment. There are plenty of clinics where you can go and be tested for an STD, and that’s the only time that you ever have to walk into that clinic.
You can get STD testing at county health departments and free clinics all over the country. If you don’t want to discuss the possibilities with your regular physician or if you don’t have a regular physician, you can still get tested. If you’re struggling financially, you can still get tested. There is no excuse not to because the opportunities are abundant, even in small towns and rural areas. Also, the testing only takes a few minutes, and it’s painless.
Is testing done discreetly?
In short, the answer is yes. No one ever needs to know that you’ve been tested for an STD. Unless you choose to tell someone else, the secret can be yours and yours alone. It’s vitally important that you remember that all of your health records are confidential. Medical professionals do not have the right to share that information with anyone else unless you explicitly give them that right. Furthermore, any permission that you give when it comes to releasing your medical records must be given in writing. Therefore, you don’t have to worry about someone finding out that you’ve been tested for an STD if you don’t want anyone else to know. Think about it this way. Getting tested might be a big deal to you and that’s okay.
However, it’s not such a big deal to the people that are doing the testing. This is meant in the best possible way. These are medical professionals that do dozens, if not hundreds of these types of tests on a weekly basis. No one is going to spend time talking about you behind your back once you leave the office. For these individuals, it’s just another day at work. If you’re worried about walking into an office and running into someone you know, you can always go to a clinic that’s in the next county. The point of all of this is that you don’t have to worry about other people finding out. This is something that you can do for your peace of mind and to make sure that you’re responsible when it comes to having sexual relationships with other people.
How accurate is testing?
Generally speaking, testing for STDs is extremely accurate. These types of tests have been given for several years and there’s been plenty of time to perfect the entire process. The same thing happens when you’re tested for the flu.
Sometimes, the disease process is not far enough along to be detected, so you might test negative when they’re is something going on. It’s also possible to test positive when you don’t have a disease. Sometimes, this is something that just happens because while the process is extremely accurate, it’s not perfect. The answer to dealing with both false positives and false negatives is to get tested more than once. If you have doubts, go to a different clinic and get tested by someone else. If you test negative, it’s always a good practice to wait a few months and then get tested again just to make sure.
If you’re married, neither of you sleep with anyone else, and you both have been tested, there’s no need to be tested again after you’re sure that you’re both negative. However, if you test negative and you continue to have several different sexual partners, or you sleep with someone new, even once, it’s important to get tested again.
Remember, it won’t do you any good to sleep with somebody and then get tested the next day. These types of diseases take a little while to show up so if you sleep with someone new, you should make sure that you get tested at least twice over the course of the next several months, so you know whether or not you need to deal with an STD.
Your responsibilities if a test is positive
Nobody likes to get a positive result on any medical test, no matter what it is. However, if you do test positive, there are certain things that you need to do to be responsible. First and foremost, it is essential, to be honest with every person that you’re sleeping with now and with those that you could have potentially infected by sleeping with in the past. If someone had tested positive that you were with, you would want them to be honest with you. You owe them the same and should be honest with them.
Furthermore, it’s imperative that you seek treatment. Again, refrain from allowing that social stigma to determine your actions from this point forward. If you have a disease, it’s important that you get treated for it so that you don’t continue to suffer medical problems as a direct result of its presence. In this case, it’s time to talk to your physician and figure out your course of treatment. That treatment will vary depending on exactly what disease you have and its severity. Remember, your doctor isn’t going to discuss your medical records with anyone, either. In this case, it’s time to put your perceived embarrassment aside and do what’s best for your health.
Learning to take action
It’s somewhat surprising that more people aren’t aware of how many sexually transmitted diseases there are. Sex education is typically taught in schools and it has been for several years, at least in most areas. Despite that fact, people still get into trouble with something that is completely preventable. A lot of it goes back to that mindset that certain things will never happen to them and will always happen to someone else. One of the best things you can do for yourself is to get rid of that mindset. Realize that things happen and they can happen to you just like they can happen to the person across the street or next door.
This is good advice whether you’re talking about sexually transmitted diseases or virtually anything else. A lot of what happens to you in life is directly dependent on your ability to either take action or your choice not to take any action at all. This is a relatively simple question. Virtually no one would say that they simply want to glide through each day and hope they end up getting what they want out of life. Yet, so many people do exactly that. It’s imperative that you put yourself in the best position to get the most out of every day. That doesn’t mean things will always go your way, but it certainly puts you in a better position to have things going your way as opposed to walking through life with a blindfold on.
Everyone has regrets. If you are honest with yourself or with anyone else, there’s not a person alive that won’t admit to this. It’s time to look at sexually transmitted diseases from a medical perspective and get rid of the social stigma that so many people attach to these diseases. If you’re capable of doing that for yourself and for those that you’re sexually active with, you have a higher chance of catching any diseases that you might contract and then deal with them successfully as opposed to trying to sweep them under the rug and hope for the best.
Get offended when someone wants to use examples from your shots. It’s a distraction to the real art form when someone steals. It’s not only unethical but it’s illegal. The way that the people steal is by taking their own ideas into the concept stage. Our new society has the idea that we should be independent of the other things in the world. Taking this into consideration, it’s easy to forget that we are all human.
